Bruce Rabik
Chief Operating Officer, Acera Insurance Services Ltd
Early Life
Bruce Rabik began studying commerce at the University of Alberta, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1985. Shortly thereafter, he began working as an underwriter for Wellington Insurance in his hometown of Edmonton, Alberta. After spending three years there, he became a business consultant with Trivest Insurance—the first broker consolidator in all of Canada. In addition to his education in commerce, Bruce Rabik holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources.
Career
In 2003, Rabik became COO of Rogers Insurance. He gathered seven insurance brokers, including Rogers Insurance, to create the Canadian Brokers Network. The goal of this network was for these brokers to support each other in remaining independent, despite the pressures to “de-risk” and sell their brokerages. Today, Rabik’s CBN has grown to be the largest network of independent brokers in Canada, with over 100 offices and a workforce of more than 2,000 employees.
As the COO of the Canadian Brokers Network, which was founded in 2002, Bruce Rabik works with over 1,100 employees, of which half are employee-owners. Rabik expanded Rogers Insurance’s reach into markets across Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia. Following a merger, Rabik became and remains COO of Acera Insurance, where he has ensured that the company has remained completely Canadian-owned.
Achievements
Bruce Rabik is the founder of the Canadian Brokers Network and current COO of Acera Insurance. During his time as COO of Rogers Insurance, the company was recognized as one of Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers, as well as one of Alberta’s Top 70 Employers for multiple years in a row.
